Excision is a film that I have heard many, many great things about in magazines such as Fangoria and Rue Morgue. Before it was even released, Fangoria did a pretty decently sized article about it and showed a lot of really cool screen shots of the film that left a mental stamp in my mind that I had to see it at some point when it came out. The premise sounded ok at best, but after watching it recently, the plot isn't all the weight of this film. It's the characters, their relation to one another and all the stuff that happens in between that make this film the newer horror movie that I think every horror freak needs to experience at least one time whether you're interested in it or not. Here we go, Pauline.
Well, right off Pauline has some deep rooted mental issues.
A little hard on Pauline, aren't you?
The use of color and lighting in this movie is genius.
Holy shit, John Waters is a priest?!
Malcolm McDowell? Yes!
Mommy has some serious control problems.
Piercing your own nose, eh??
A warm blood bath... ok, I guess.
You've made a mistake Adam.
That was a pretty disturbing abortion scene.
Ipecac. Sweet.
Catillion is a bunch of rich, snobby ass-hats anyway. The girls are better off.
Slammed Natalie's face into a locker!
The principle kind of looks like Pat Sajak.
What in the holy hell??!!
I absolutely loved this film because of the atmosphere, the characters, all the little different situations with them together and separately, Pauline's dream\imagination sequences... There are so many great things going on in this flick that I have to watch it sometime soon again. I actually watched this on Hulu Plus recently because they just added it to their horror\suspense category and I had no idea until I looked to see if there was anything new. It builds itself into an ending that I kind of saw coming, but kind of didn't at the same time and I really didn't want to spoil it for you guys here if you haven't seen it yet. If you want to watch a coming of age movie that is a lot different than you're typical American Pie type of film, than go with this. Don't take Pauline's phone number. You'll have to be tested.
